The herb Devil’s Claw helps reduce inflammation and decrease pain. It has cortisone like effects, but is safe for the body. Another herb, the Cat’s claw also has anti-inflammatory properties that are essential in getting rid of stiffness and swelling in the joints. It is usually given to patients with arthritis.

Celery seed and guaiacum are also famous in its benefits for painful joints. They are combined with other herbs for better effect. Pineapples, although not a herb, is used to treat acute gout attack. Its main component bromelain is effective in alleviating gout pain. Another well-used fruit for gout are cherries. They contain flavonoids which reduce the level of uric acid found in the body.

The oil of the linseed contains essential fatty acids which are very good for the treatment of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and atherosclerosis.

Other useful herbs include Dandelion, Uva Ursi, Buchu, Rosehip, Celery Seed, Ginger, Capsicum, Sarsaparalla, Alfalfa, Dried Cherries, Cherries, Willow Bark, Bhlewa, Chamomile, Nettles, Benzoin, Boneset, Boswellia, Tumeric, Juniper, Lingzhi/Ganoderma, Flax seed oil and Flax Seed. Green tea is also said to reduce gout attacks.
